about babel
In the spring of 2006 Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (LKV) created a new exhbition
space in Trondheim at Mellomveien 4 called BABEL.
BABEL will show mainly LKV's guest artists: every year 12 - 18 artists from
all over the world come to Trondheim and work here for 1-3 months. This means
that Trondheim's art public now have direct access to a great variety of international
art.
But Babel will also show other exhibitions. The program is put together by a group of artists at LKV. This group changes every year.
The name 'Babel' was chosen primarily with respect to the guest artists - the idea is that a diversity of languages is a positive thing, a blessing for humankind - and not negative. Every language represents one way of seeing the world. This is also valid for art as a language for communication. We hope that we can contribute a little bit to the 'babel' in Trondheim's art life.
