"MACHINES AND ANIMATIONS"

drawing, silk screens and video

Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (LKV) has for over ten years hosted a residency program funded by Trondheim kommune (the municipality) and Sør-Trøndelag fylkeskommune (the county). Each year 12 - 18 artists from all parts of the world come to LKV and Trondheim to live and work in periods of 1 to 3 months. Through LKV's new art space, BABEL, the art public of Trondheim will now have the possibility of seeing the work of all these international artists.

We feel that this is very important for the art scene of Trondheim. The public will have the opportunity of seeing much more international art than previously - and the recidency at LKV will become more attractive for international artists when there is a possibility of a solo exhibition during the residency.

We are very happy and proud to present the first guest artist with a solo show in Babel: Helen Quinn, who lives and works in New York, USA. Previously she has had residencies in Canada, India, Chech Republic and Japan.

Helen Quinn is interested in the beauty and magic of movement. She makes drawings for and then builds kinetic 'sculpture machines'. She also makes animation films from drawings and gouaches. The exhibition in BABEL will present drawings, silk screens and animations by Helen Quinn.
