Peter Lang

Painting and Drawing

Since 2003, Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (LKV) has had an exchange agreement with Oberpfälsische Künstlerhaus in Bavaria. Our Bavarian guest artist in 2006 is the painter and graphic artist Peter Lang. He was born in 1965 and was educated at the art academy in Munich.

The exhibition that Lang will show in Babel was produced during his stay at LKV. The works were partly inspired by the Norwegian landscape and the very special light conditions typical of our part of the country.

The stay at LKV has been a possibility for the artist to try out new ideas, to work out a new project. This illustrates one of the positive effects a working period in a new place may have - which is the main idea behind the guest artist program at LKV.

Peter Lang is a very active artist in Germany. In addition to the exhibition in Babel in July, he is at the same time exhibiting in Hamburg, Augsburg and in Belgium.

His paintings has been seen as relating to Caspar David Friedrich and the romantic tradition of landscape painting. But they can also be seen as a combination of abstract painting techniques and inspirations from the nordic landscape.
