"NO ISLAND IS A MAN"

Torbjørn Skårild and Martin Smidt

Babel has invited Torbjørn Skårild and Martin Smidt to make an exhibition under the loosely formulated label "Music and art".

Skårild and Smidt have previously collaborated on the public art project "White Man's Magic" at St. Olavs Hospital in Trondheim, and they have made video and music for two theatrical plays: "Split Second" (2000) and "The Fakir".

In Babel they will show a new work called "No Island Is A Man". This is a video/sound installation where the integration of rythm is an important issue. In addition the work contains a page of text where Google's helpful phrase "Did you mean:" attempts to bring clarity to more or less important questions concerning man's relationship to the world.
